DVD Drive Not Recognizing Certain Audio CDs

Hello,

I bought a new desktop earlier in the week and have hit a problem when trying to play some audio CDs. Windows (7) will not even recognize that there is a disk in the drive. Most other CDs, however, work fine.

I have tried the CDs in question on two other computers and a CD player and they function perfectly, so I'm pretty certain the disks are not faulty. I have noticed, though, that the ones that won't work are either Warner Brothers or Atlantic (itself part of Warner Music, Wikipedia tells me). Could there be some sort of DRM issue or something here? I have done some googling and came across one or two people having a similar problem with Warner Brothers CDs (one with the exact same album - REM's Automatic For The People) but alas no solution.

As I say, the computer is brand new, so i don't think the disk drive is failing or anything, but then what do I know?

It says my drive is an ATAPI iHAS224 B ATA device, if that's relevant.

Any assistance would be much appreciated, thanks.

No help here, but I'm having the exact same problem with a brand new Dell Windows 7 machine. Some CDs work, some don't...

Mine is a PLDS DVD+-RW DH-16ABS ATA device. Lame!
