GTX 560 ti OCing - ZOTAC or GIGABYTE??

Forum Overclocking : Graphics Cards GTX 560 ti OCing - ZOTAC or GIGABYTE??

Word :    Username :

Hello,
I have finally put the components of my new rig together -

i5-2500k
G.Skill Sniper 8GB (2X4GB)
Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 (rev. 2.0) - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/p [...] id=4015#ov

i am planning to buy a GTX 560 ti for a 1080p resolution.

I can only get ZOTAC or GIGABYTE in the market (I dont live in the US).

So which one?? ZOTAC or GIGABYTE?
I will be OCing my card in the future to gauge out more fps, but not ryt now.

i am sorta leaning towards GIGABYTE, coz its got dual fans, and also the factory overclock o gigabyte's base model is higher than zotac's..

Thx in advance!

Well you could do what I did get the reference unit then when you want better cooling but an aftermarket cooler like the Gelid Icy Vision or the Arctic Accelero Extreme Plus 2. Temps are much better than most factory installed custom coolers.

My GB 560ti is being RMAd for artifacts, freeze ups and bsod during heavy gaming. Read about others having the same problem. Pain in the ass if you don't have a backup card. I wouldn't buy one again. I have the same mb & cpu as you as well & there's a hd6950 in now that's outperforming the 560ti in the same system. Just my experience, I know lots of people have success w/them.

Could I install an arctic cooler in the zotac's 560 ti?? Coz it has only single fan.

Well as long as it has the same mounting holes ("reference design" ) it should work. the 560Ti has the same mounting holes as the 460. Tested it with a cooler I got from a GTX 460 owner

k, thanx a lot!! :D

you are welcome. But I was eyeing the Accelero Extreme Plus II before but it was hard to come by so I just went with the Gelid Icy Vision Rev 2 and Im so much happier with my temps (I dont go past 65C at an ambient air intake temp of 28C)

thats quite cool actually. I once got a temp. of 109 C on my 8400 GS while playing nfs most wanted on high settings. Those cards dont even come with a cooler, and I had only a single rear fan in my pc at that time. needles to say, the game crashed.

Im still making a few mods to my case to improve temps but placing fans properly could improve temps by at least 5 C (thats what happened to me).

I saw many reviews praising CM's CPU coolers to be worth every penny. I also intend to get a CM cooler later, coz that and corsair are only rthe most popular brands around here. But dunno why some bozos hate CM like justin bieber. :-D

Well Im currently using a Venomous X but for the sandy bridge the Hyper 212+ series is good enough or the hyper 612 hehehehe. Well I dont really care much about the brand as long as they could deliver what they promise in performance.

hmmm, coolermaster is definitely the king when it comes to price/performance ratio of aftermarket cpu coolers. And I believe that anything past the hyper n620 is just a waste of money.
How is coolermaster's TX3 Evo?? I am getting it at a solid price here, with the hyper 212 plus having a considerable price diference with it.

Haven't tried that out for myself. All I can say is going to be based on reviews around but by the looks of it compared to the Hyper 212+ series you may lose by about 5-10C depending on your OC (just an estimate). But I have a friend who OC'ed his i7-2600k to about 4.5 on the stock heatsink with about 78C max temp at 28C ambient (he was really lucky with the chip).

thx, definitely will go with zotac, as u mentioned before that it has scope for aftermarket cooling.

thx for the input once again!
