Hello guys. I need help overclocking my Q9550. I want to see whether I can take it up to 3.8 ghz. Never overclocked before. I bought a new fan a few months ago (Cooler Master Hyper 212) because my heatsink wasn't properly making contact. Appreciate the advice and/or comments.

SPECS:
Q9550 2.8 ghz
8 GB RAM
GTX 580 SC
750 W PS
650 Gb Hard Drive

Definantly Possible. make sure your heat sink is good quality. Check your idle Temps.
Over clock in 100mhz increments. Post your idle temps as is.

What type of RAM do you have DDR2 800? Something else? You'll need to watch this because the RAM speeds will increase as the FSB goes up. You'll have to make adjustments to your RAM during the process.
