OCing an i7 2700k in a biostar tz68a+ but i cant seem to get it over 4.7ghz even tho the clock is set to 100mhz x 50 multiplier. any clue whats up? i have a 6970 oc 950mhz and running a 600w psu. my vcore is 1.4.
Could it be that it doesn't have enough voltage to hold high clock? Even at say 1.4 v you will have a drop to about 1.36x at high power on some motherboards.
there is also a max power option in my BIOS that has two different wattage allowances for my CPU. 1st is set to 95w second is 118 i think.... not at home to check, but i was not experienced enough to know whether messing with those values might cook my chip.
Don't want to give you the wrong advice because I use AMD so I'll let a more experienced user respond. I believe that would help though but not 100% sure.
