I have been on queue for a 3930k for a week or so and for some reason new-egg will only sell them bundled.

I had planned to by the 3930k with 4x4GB Corsair Supplied Ram but the closest I could find without buying something completely superfluous was the processor and G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model.

I plan to put the processor onto a new GIGABYTE G1.ASSASSIN2 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard.

If I only use the 2x8GB that came in the combo, will that cause an issue? Thank you in advance.

If I order another two identical sticks, nna2, will that make it "quad"?

If you have 2 sets of dual channel ram, then it would run as quad channel if they are in the right channels. The only reason to not do this and buy quad channel kits is because those kits have been tested to run with each other, there's a chance buying another identical kit of ram wont run, though i don't know how high that chance is as I've never heard first hand from someone with that issue.

When it comes to Dual/Quad Channel, that's how the RAM talks to the CPU, the same RAM stick could run in Quad/Triple/Dual or Single channel perfectly fine. That motherboard only has 4 DIMM slots, so if you get 4 sticks of RAM in there working, then your running Quad channel, each slot being a different channel (not to be confused with a 1155 mobo where having 4 slots is still only dual channel)
