Hello,
My gateway 740 xp which has been working lately will not start up, the hd light stays on and thats all. Disconnected HD and red hd light is still on. any sugessistions

Sounds like your HD is bad. Can you boot into safe mode ?

May need windows CD to boot from to attempt repair, but if HD is bad, buy another and install
