This is problem with the DVD disk, drive can read other DVDs and get same error with this particylar disk on other PC. This error pops up after I have inserted disk in drive and after clicking OK or error msg I get PTStart error: Could Not Launch index.htm

Am I going to be able to retrive by backed up photos from this disk?

OS Windows XP

The error you are seeing here is one caused by the autoplay on the DVD not being able to find the file index.htm on the disk. This, in itself, is not a big issue - it just means that one of the files used to give you a nice startup is missing. If, however, it shows that the disk has been corrupted, then a powerdatarecovery might be what you need to do. To assess this, rather than double clicking on the disk in My Computer, right click and select "Explore" or "Open" instead of the default "Autoplay". See if you can find your files, and try copying them off the disk.

Hey - that powerdatarecovery has done the trick - brilliant - didn't think it would be able to access the disk as it was not coming up on Explorer or Disk Manager.

Result!
