im confused when it comes to different version of PCI express.. what is the difference of express x1 and x16? what is pci-e v1 and v2?

The x1 and x16 is bandwidth. PCI-E 1.0, 2.0 are the different versions.

Kind of like how ram has DDR2 and DD3 but unlike the ram modules, PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 have the slot layout so you can put a 2.0 card into a 1.0 slot.
