Are there any performance impacts of I use memory modules of the same speed but different size? Lets say I have 2x2gb ddr2-800 in dual channel and 2x1gb ddr2-800 in dual channel equalling 6gb.

Your performance will be no difference as long as they the same speed you will see no performance impacted. I've been running 6 GB in my girls computer and i havent seen any problems.
