I have an option of exchanging my X2 560BE with the X4 955 BE at a nominal cost.

Is it Advisable ?

Current Config:

MoBo: MSi 880 GM E35
8 GB DDR3 RAM Corsair
R6770 1GB Graphic Card
400W Corsair Power Supply
Hyper TX3 Cooling Unit

At this point? No, BD is on the corner and SB-E is pending for release too. Keep your 560 BE for a little more and after BD release see what option is better.

BD= Bulldozer, the next AMD's CPU generation.

in the motherboard bios there is actualy a feature called unlock cores

damn this is getting tough, i have a limited window to return the current 560 in exchange with the 955..
and with this BD thing coming out soon, i'll be outdated again , plus this "Bulldozer" word sounds kickass.

I'm sure AMD would go ballistic to kick Intel as hard as they can, Feels like the early 2000s when the processor war was at its peak.

Its all coming back.

BD-BE-BD-BE-BD-BE...phew

i read somewhere that the server edition FX would launch first and the desktop edition one would follow later..

Plus any leads on the pricing ?

the 955BE is $120 .. any idea on how the BD is going to be priced ?

Unlocking causes BSODs and why risk it if i can get the 955 ? please prove me wrong

though i'm a strict hater of BSODs, have lost tons of work to it

AFAIK $250 MAX for the top end BD.

how about i unlock my 560 to quad core(3.8Ghz) for the time being and wait for the BD ?

955BE is 3.2Ghz that cannot be unlocked further, whereas the 560BE is 3.8Ghz after unlocking....there has to be a catch ? logically games should run better on the 560BE, do i sound convincing ?

You can try, but unclock cores aren't 100% stable.

If you get bsod's add voltage
do it step by step, add .02 v and boot the machine
test for a while BSOD add more voltage try not to get past 1.425
so unlock then bump voltage
