is there any way to OC CPU of this PC

1. E5200
2. asus p5kplam g31 microATX board
3. 4670 1gb
4. 2 gb ddr2 ram

is possible, plz teach me on the windows method

(i'm not very good with bios and i just found jumper free config in bios as : 5, 10, 15 and 20 % OC)

i just want about 15-20% oc?

is there any tool? or anything?

thanks

Hi man, If you have a preset O/c in your bios, why not try that?
You will most likely be needing an aftermarket cooler on there to help cope with the extra heat created, but if its a feature of your motherboard use it,
you will be well advised to read a load of posts in here just to get familiar with terms and references, you'll be surprised how fast you pick things up hehe
one more thing though, i would get another 2Gb of ram in the system first, that will speed you up as well

yes

i'll get another 2gb stick asap

so, can u recommend me some website for absolutely beginners or just explain me very simple steps for ocing ( at most about 20%)

i've zalman cooler.

thanks

and although your 5200 isn't listed, heres a more specific guide as well

ok thanks a lot.

i've read the posts and all are nice.

so, can u check me some figures for this oc. (i'll do e5200 later because it's my friend's one)

E 7400 2.8ghz 10.5 multiplier 266 fsb
2 + 1 gb ddr2 800 ram

1. i want 3.3 ghz so, i'll put the fsb to 315mhz and the my RAM frequency should go up to 730 mhz by itself? (is it correct)

2. and my RAM is 800hmz so i assume it can easily handle 730, right?

3. so i won't be fsb ration not 1:1, will it be ok?

4. any comment on this oc and what do i need to do more? (i don't mention stability, just step of ocing)

thanks again

I'm no expert on the finer points of clocking myself, so the ratio question i cant answer,
you will have to set your ram timings yourself before you start to whatever the ram runs at, so if its 800Mhz ram, set it as close to 400 as you can in bios without going over, double data rate makes it 800Mhz, if you set it to 800 thats a 100% Oc and you wont get anywhere :P
but if your math works out then yes, thats a feasible method of reaching 3.3Ghz, 3307.5= 10.5x315, although if your bios lets you, try and work with a lower clockspeed and higher multiplier, it helps keep heat and voltages down and according to various viewpoints, yields a more stable result
dont just set everything to your highest calculated numbers, that more often than not will not work,
start from where you are now, and up things in small increments, then test stability with Prime95, or similar, you'll find your ceiling without cooking anything :)

yes

i've tested

3.3 not stable

i can get just 3.15 and ok on prime 95 for 1 hour.

and i leave the ram timming auto

can this be done?

Reply to myowaiwin

whats the voltage on? it may be that a touch more will hold you at 3.3Ghz, but I'd research a little on the net for your chips max voltage limit,
and as stated earlier, set the ram yourself, dont trust bios to know the best, if you've set it you know that isn't the source of any issues,
dont worry about individual timings there should be a droptab for xxxMHz, just remember to half the rams rating and get as close to that as you can
Gratx on your first stable Clock though man :) work ok on your games etc?
thats my measure of if a clocks successful more than P95 or Sandra,
if it works for WoW, I'm happy hehe

so plz explain me one thing.

eg. my cpu fsb is 266.

so if i use ddr2 ram 2 stick, my ram is running 533 inspite it's 800 and the bios show it's 800? or the ram run at 800 withi 1;1 ration?

and if i use dd3 ram 2 stick, my ram running at which speed. it's 1333 and mobo show it's 1333 at boot if fsb is 266.

thanks.
do i need to adjust to be 1:1 or leave as auto and just modify the fsb to my desired stable clock?

Reply to myowaiwin

1:1 isn't as important on ratio's as some would have you believe,
I run a perfectly stable system at 3:10 :P, leave it on auto and concentrate on getting the Oc set first, if you wish you can alter the ram more later on,

so just changing the fsb for cpu is enough for about 20% OC?

so i can leave the rest auto if the system is stable and can pass primne95 for hours

Reply to myowaiwin

yup, as long as it holds P95 it should be good but as I said, I judge the success by it holding up under gaming for 8 hour plus sessions hehe
