4pin fan in a 3pin fan header?

ok so i have a old left over 4pin fan that i want to place into my case so i could use it to draw away heat from my GPU. I my mobo only has 3 pin connectors beside the cpu fan header. Im wondering if i could plug this 4 pin fan into a 3pin fan header because my understanding is that the 4th pin is only to control the fan speed and with out it the fan will just run at full rpm.

Please let me know thanks.

  3. try to switch the last 2 pins in your FAN connector(PWM3th pin with sense 4 pin) you should be able to control the fan speed after that>D
