Hi, will 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM be enough for gaming?

Yes! COD Black Ops minimum requirements are 2 GB of RAM.

However, all games will run better at higher than minimum hardware requirements.

there is a very low marginal benefit to going beyond 4 gigs of 1333 ddr3, that being said, I have 8 gigs of ddr3 1600. :)

4gb 1333 enough for gaming, more size will be good

8GB is the optimum amount of memory for gaming and will give overall better system performance. As apps and games get even more resource-hungry in the future, having more memory will become even more important.

I recommend 8GB for any new system. The extra money spent now will reap benefits every day, until you need to upgrade to a totally new system.

The speed of the RAM is actually less important than the amount. If the choice were 4GB of 1600 versus 8GB of 1333, I would choose the 1333 RAM.

Maybe your antennas are loose but I cannot mentally extract the missing information, this is frustrating!!!!!!!!!

That's a wonderful question, and what Operating System are we talking about?

4 will be enough but it is kinda cheap now so why not get 8 gigs of 1600. And what is the guy above me talking about? Why is a moderator posting nonsense?

Not this one.

The OP never provided what OP/SYS he was asking the question for, He may be running WinXP Home 32bit for all we know and 4G would be overkill for that OP/SYS.

32bit or 64bit, maybe or maybe not?

Yeah I know with everything I've already written I could have covered, RAM for the masses, but, what fun would that be! :)

I appreciate your enthusiasm, and your avatar. Lets see if the OP ever responds...

Newegg had a shellshock deal about a week ago for 16 GB of gskill ripsaw ddr 3 1600 for 100 bucks, really kicking myself for not picking it up,

WHOA! I missed that one! That was a deal!

I've managed to cash in on a couple of fantastic deals at Newegg, sometimes as good as that 16gb memory deal they really do some price slashing.

Sorry I missed that one! :pfff:

Thanks by the way! I searched a long time until I found the avatar I wanted to use.

So many times we get questions like we're mind readers or something, only partial information is supplied and we have to either cover every possibility or wait for the OP to post the operating system he's planning on playing his games on.

So much missing information, what games are we talking?

Crysis 2 or Pac Man etc., etc., etc.

Is it a 32bit OP/SYS or 64bit OP/SYS?

And I posted nonsense, because that's just me, and I'm in a good mood! :hello:

Running my Transcend ram from 1333 to 1600 on i7 2600 @ 1.64v(ram voltage) and it seems pretty stable. Ram timing are 8-8-8 24. CPU Speed 3.6.

I show noticeable responsiveness when throttling up ram to 1600 and lowered timings.
