Can I delete duplicate files, even if they are in separate directories

Forum Windows XP : General Discussion Can I delete duplicate files, even if they are in separate directories

I just ran a utility that finds duplicate files. The names and sizes are exactly the same, but each are in different directories. Can I delete all dups that are in these different directories?? What if a program/code calls for a file in a absolute path and it doesn't find it. Is code that smart these days that it will look in another location?

for example, qfe.exe is found in multiple files.

c:\DELL\drivers\R147115\gfe.exe
c:\DELL\drivers\R153908\HDAQFE\win2k_xp\us\gfe.exe
c:\Program Files\SigmaTel\C-Major Audio\HDAQFE\win2k_xp\us\gfe.exe

I know the answer may seem obvious, but I thought I'd better ask that to create havoc on my computer....

thanks for your advice!

Simple. - You are dealing with system files - Leave the duplicates Alone !

As you say, The most complete duplicate finder and deleter I have found is "Duplicate Files Deleter".

You can download it from here: http://duplicatefilesdeleter.com/

I have found that, not only is it one of the fastest duplicate finders/deleters, but also is by far the most accurate one because of the way it's search engine uses MD5 info.

Yes , you can easily remove duplicate files even it is located in different categories. It becomes difficult situation for user to access their files .When you download any files from website it automatically creates duplicate files for your system and get located in anywhere. With the help of manual steps it is difficult for user to locate duplicate file. With the help of duplicate finder mac it is to locate duplicate files on on your Mac.

Yes, the duplicate file finder i tried for the purpose did it. I tried Mac duplicate finder program and it cleared all duplicate & temporary files from my system within matter of moments. My experience with the program was really nice and i would recommend this to all. Find More information on mac duplicate finder program here and it is also to be noted that the program is safe & easy to use and wont delete system files, thereby helping system work properly after the duplicate file entries have been cleared.
