2 terabyte barrier with Supermicro X8DA3?

Forum Motherboards & Memory : Supermicro 2 terabyte barrier with Supermicro X8DA3?

I have read a few reviews stating that the Supermicro X8DA3 motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813182185 has a 2 terabyte hard drive barrier. I was planning on buying this mother board along with a raid 1+0 setup of four, 1 tb hard drives. However, after reading about this so called barrier, i feel rather hesitant on purchasing this board. Have any of you worked with this board or are currently using it? what are some of your opinions on the board?

Im building a dual quad xeon workstation for VFX and 3D modelling. So any other suggestions on a great workstation board are kindly accepted.

This is an issue with any motherboard that doesn't support booting from GPT partitions due to the limitations on the older, more common MBR partition scheme.

The board should work perfectly well with drives over 2TB, but the BOOT drive must be less than 2TB.

so if i had four Samsung Spinpoint hard drives (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185), each of them 1 terabyte each, i should have no problem booting up since the drives are under 2 terabytes. However, if i raid them, it would be a combined total of 4 terabytes, so would that cause an issue?
