I've noticed that Computer Components are a great deal cheaper in the US then the UK, Of which is based on Tax...

However I am curious, Would all the computer components work in England if brought from the United States? Understanding that the power supply would not due to different voltage setting as well as the two prong plug.

Bought in UK, bought in US, all made in China. Honestly, there is no difference. The only exception is the power specifications, as you mentioned. That part is taken care of by the power supply, and the other components are none the wiser.

The Power Supply Unit within a desktop computer or laptop takes the voltage in at whatever rate and adapts it to the various voltages required by different components so yes, parts you source from anywhere in the world will work here in the UK. As to quality, US posters would have to confirm that their's are up to the mark. Something might be sacrificed for the cheapness.

Over here, it's greed more than tax that makes our parts expensive.

You'll get no argument from me. According to my (conservative) calculations, here in the good ol' R of SA we pay a 25% premium on the $ price. Probably import tax, or maybe greedy retailers, who knows.

Don't forget the extra 2.5% the UK will have whacked on most items come January.

Got to pay Fred's bonus somehow I guess... :(
