Buying a PSU online from America, to Australia

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods Buying a PSU online from America, to Australia

I am thinking to buy PSU online from America, to Australia. Alot of people are going to say why not buy from an australian store and the reason to this is because America is a helluva lot cheaper compared to Australia even if you do have to import it (btw i did convert it to $US) and it doesn't have any of the products i'm looking for.

So i was wondering is there anyway to make an American PSU work with Australia, for e.g. the plugs are different.

as long as you wall sockets use either 110V or 220V, then all you have to do is get a plug that will fit in your wall socket. although how do you plan in importing it? do you know someone living in the US?

Your assumptions are incorrect. If you check on staticice.com.au, I am sure you can find the PSU that you want far cheaper than you can import it from the US. Especially taking shipping into account, not to mention the various hassles of money xfers, (can't use AUS CC's most US websites, so need a bank draft or a TT, both of which come with high fees) the time in shipping, clearing customs, etc. Personally, I bought a Silverstone 700w unit from itestate.com.au for several percent less than it was sold for in the US. We are not getting raped on parts these days near as much as we used to... GPU's being the current exception.

Add in the 'hidden' costs, check around locally, and I am sure that you'll get what you need. If not, I do have rellys in the US that may help, but it will incur a small handling fee....

Staticice and pricespy together are a deadly combination. Pricespy is better for longing at a range of prices for a type of component, rather than a specific brand or model. Staticice is good when you know exactly what you want.

Never tried pricespy, simply because I mostly know what it is I am looking for. I'll have to give it a lash some day for just generic searches.

(When are we going to get an Asean Tom's site?)
