Quote: "Lynnfield quad-core at 2.93GHz will be a direct competitor to the soon-to-launch Core i7 950. This gives us a strong hint that the Core i5 brand might not materialize, at least not for this category, and that Lynnfield might end up branded as Core i7 xx0, let's say 8x0 series."

Its been known for awhile that the 940 and 965 are eoled, and sales for these chips are speculated at very very low sales, and the 250 as well as the 975 are coming soon, and that overall , Nehalem sales have been underselling. Only 1/2 million sold in the first 5 months for DT.
Ive speculated that Intel has indeed missed the mark with their strategy, and they just arent getting it, as theyve produced a power hungry, large and yet very high performing in DT apps chip, somewhat akin to nVidia and their G200 series gpus, but also similar, the gaming performance on both arent spectacular, as the aims for each is more diversified, and they do well in other areas outside gaming.
I believe this has hurt Intels sales on i7, and a true i5 would also hurt even further those sales. Your thoughts?
