Raising fan speed

Forum CPU & Components : Other Components Raising fan speed

I need a way to raise the speed of my intake fan. Right now its running at 1200rpm and moving very little air. I took a look at speedfan and it was kind of confusing but it said everything was at 100% on the main screen, but it really doesnt do anything when I turn it down so I dont know if its legit or not. Thanks for the help if any is given.

Check in the BIOS assuming it's on a motherboard header.

It may be at 100%. If so, you may need to change it for something that moves more air at the price of more noise. A good comparison (one of those "all other things being equal" ) is to look at the Scythe S-Flex SFF21 fans on newegg. The D through G models move correspondingly more air by spinning faster and generating more noise.

This is the fan that I have:

It says that the rpm is 1200-2100, so it seems that its running as low as it can go, which is rough because this is my only intake fan. I looked in the bios and it reads it as 1200 rpm, but it wont let me change it.

Looking at various images of the fan's packaging, like this one http://www.ultraproducts.com/popup [...] u=ULT40144 , it appears to me that the fan has an internal thermostatic control which determines the running speed.

The fan thinks your case temperature is just fine, so it is running at only 1200 rpm.

Damn, thats rough.

Is the fan installed so that it blows air into the case or out of the case?

It's just a guess, but I am thinking that this fan needs to blow air out for the thermostatic control to work properly.

Its being used as my front intake fan right now, but I think i'm going to be swapping it with my rear 120 fan. Hopefully that helps.
