How do you explain your hot rig to old people?

Forum CPU & Components : Power Supplies, Cases & Mods How do you explain your hot rig to old people?

 let's say, they wonder what's so special about my Phenom II 720/GTX 260 core 216 rig?

Obviously, you cannot simply say the names of your parts, it is beyond their comprehension!

Therefore... How would you explain it, in any good analogy, why your computer kicks so much ass? :pt1cable:

The best one i can think of is the human body analogy, like "brain = Phenom, eyeball = GTX 260, etc"

but that analogy kinda sucked... :ange:

I am a senior citizen. I build pc's for friends, neighbors, and girlfriends. Most of them are senior citizens. They don't seem to care too much about pc components. They just want a system that works for email, family photos, and web browsing. They're idea of gaming is Solitaire. It doesn't take much to keep them happy. That being the case, I don't bother telling them about my own system.

I suppose you could tell them you process family photos or videos of family gatherings faster.

Tell them the Processor = engine
GPU = windsheild wipers (they help you see)
Motherboard = the chassis of the car (keeps everything together)
PSU = is the alternator (powers everything up)
I just made this up right now... Hope it helps, back then everybody should know what a car was made up of...

Yeah, Johnny. The geezers are pretty much just tool users.

I figure that I'll reach geezerdom in about 20 years.

Man when I reach Geezerdom, I want to do extreme things, like parachutting, or base jumping, hunt BEARS! (at least something that could kill a man)... Go out with a bang!

Who needs an analogy? Tell them your system has high end components which are designed to allow you to view animated objects for entertainment. Follow that up by saying that the average PC doesnt have the hardware needed to do this.

With advancements in Medicine, I feel you will live longer, just cross the streets as fast as you can, if you live in a dense city.

It could be worse, most Somalians dont live past 30, according to South Park.

well that means u missed your crisis, better get it now, instead of getting a sweet car, get a sweet gaming rig and file server
