what driver version you use?
I have fps problem on my new 4870 on crysis dx10. Try run "crysis.exe -dx9" this will run in dx9 mode on vista, wich works fine for me. BUT the problem with 3Dmark and some other games persists :((((

My 3dmark06 score is about 11000 with AMD X2 @3.0Ghz (which is bad)

48xx series dont score well on 3dmark 06 any how.

If your CPU is stock that would explain the low score.

Make sure your card is running 16x and not 1x.

Well first off if its your third 4870 card by different manufactures I think you can safely remove the graphics card as being the problem. As for the Gigabyte card its an excellent card, running two of them here in crossfire and haven't had a single problem with the cards playing Crysis or Crysis Warhead. Which driver are you using? Hopefully your not using the driver supplied with the card. I'm using CAT8.9 here.

When you boot the computer the graphics fan speed starts at full then throttles back, this is normal for ATi cards. So don't worry about that.

Have you downloaded GPUZ to confirm your card is operating in X16 mode?

If GPUZ confirms the motherboard and graphics card are working in X16 mode then I would look at memory configurations and settings.

As far as 3dmark06 I haven't run it in years, not since my first crossfire setup using X1900 cards and discovering 3dmark06 would disable crossfire. I look at pure game performance instead of what 3dmark06 says its doing.

As for running Crysis in directX9 mode if your using vista, in games right click on Crysis and it will bring up a list and you will see PlayDX9, just click there to start the game.

Absolutely no! I have 35+ fps on 1680x1050 maxed out on COD4 with my old 3870 :( HD4870 supposed to be twice as fast at least.
something's wrong with RV770s :( I already regret spending ~£200 on my HD4870. I realy didn't noticed any performance increase compared to 3870 :( so sad.

P.S. I've searched the net and found that many people have performance isues with 4870s, some people don't. Unfortunatelly we are from the guys that did :(

uninstall all ati software first, restart computer and then install this driver, please.

I didn't get any performance boost with this but some people did have.
