Hey guys,

I was wondering if you could give me some recommendations on some sound hardware. I will use this for gaming probably only for it.

Firstly I really dislike Creative just for the way they do business and support there products so I would like to stay away from them.

Here's what I'm looking at: Razer AC-1 http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] ture=Razer

Or http://www.ncix.com/products/index [...] cture=ASUS

Now I heard great things about Razer for games on I am considering buying a headset from them in the future maybe this oOo http://www2.razerzone.com/Megalodon/

Or am I just better off going with a X-FI card.

Thanks in advance.

I don't think anyone knows really. it's not hardware that's the issue, it's drivers. These other companies are trying to compete, but can they give the support needed?

ASUS is OK about providing drivers for other hardware... but support is not good.

You know what to expect from creative (not much) but no one can predict these other guys.

Keep in mind that all game developers try to support Creative because it is the most common hardware. Some will test with Razer or Asus, but not as many. Creative used to have a major problem with their Vista drivers, but it's been fixed by now.

BTW, your links are broken. If you want to fix them, type each link again, select it, then use the url icon (it looks like a chain link).

what mobo are you getting? you may want to try it out first. there have been some big improvements in that area. some people swear by the current onboard. which i know is way different then how it used to be. maybe you build and try it out and if you feel it is lacking then add one?

Good point. Also, what kind of speakers do you have (or will have)? If they're very good then a sound card might make a difference, but otherwise it's not worth it.
