Hey! A friend of mine gave me a motherboard which already had a p4 on it and also gave me a psu.

The problem is he gave me the motherboard in a box that is not of that motherboard. The box is of the board PM8PM-V. I found the manual for this board and the layout of this board has nothing to do with the layout of the board I have here.

It says it supports sata devices, something which I can't find on the board I have here. I tried looking for any kind of identification on the board it self so I can look for the manual online but I just can't find any kind of identification. I have taken some photos but they are not in the highest quality

If someone knows anything about this board please let me know :)

Thanks, AntonioCS

Pictures are too blurry to really tell anything. Take some better pictures of the Northbridge/southbridge.

There should be a model number on the board somewhere. Google every number/letter sequence you have.

I would have to know how to start it up. To do that I know which jumpers power it on

thats not a p4 no 4 pin power connector no agp slot. there should be an fcc id number printed on the board or on a sticker stuck to the board if you can get me the number i can look it up for you at https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas [...] Search.cfm

The power on pins are fairly standard. Just touch 2 pins at a time until it powers on.

Yes I did that. It did power on but I don't know why it got stuck on a screen saying something about the bios :(

make sure you have a keyboard connected and you can enter the bios usually f1 or del key it should tell you what motherboard you have in there

Here is what was on the screen:
This was there for like 5m or something: http://antoniocs.org/board/IMG_0978.jpg
This is what I got after the 5m: http://antoniocs.org/board/IMG_0980.jpg
I did manage to get to the bios setup and set the cdrom to be the primary boot device and the second the hdd. But shouldn't I get an error after the bios has performed all those tests it normally does?
Wgfalcon: Where exactly do I go to see a motherboard reference in the bios?

Reply to AntonioCS

as it boots it should tell you to press a key to enter the bios when that screen opens there should be brand and possibly model info on the main page

Ok.. I'll try that

From the pics it looks like one of your memory modules isn't fully seated. I can't tell what model that board is though.

All the options I get are these -> http://antoniocs.org/board/IMG_0981.jpg
None of which tell me anything about the motherboard.

Jim_L9 - I think it is seated, but I will remove it and place it again, thanks

One thing I can tell you is that its not a P4, I would guess that its a socket A athlon. To start you can just keep shorting two pins at a time till you find the two that are correct and you will then know which they are.

Indeed it's not. It's a p3 800Mhz. I have found the 2 corrects pins and am now installing ubuntu :)

i know it's a pain in the a$$ but if you can find the fcc id thats the way to go. Ancient's right it should be a socket a athlon the board looks almost identical to a biostar mb i had with an athlon 750 on it. the fcc id will say fcc id have a 3 digit code a space and more numbers

I do see something with FCC but it just says it complies to it's standards and I see no numbers :(

Reply to AntonioCS

might be on the back as well but it's required by law so it has to be there somewhere

Thanks for the help Wgfalcon.
I am getting nowhere with ubuntu. I think I am going to install winxp and then use everest or something like that to retrieve all the info I need.

Hey I got some more photos of this motherboard. I used the flash and they look pretty good, maybe someone can spot the boards model somewhere.
They are all here -> http://antoniocs.org/board/new/

Mythbuntu is an OS that can record TV programs. You can install XBMC on it and play all of the most popular video formats. Linux has a number of video players besides XBMC -- mplayer, ffmpeg, xine, and even Boxee. Linux prefers Nvidia video cards for playing video.
