8800gt is significantly faster. The 1gb ram on 9600gt is meaningless.

Thanks for your reply... just for your information... my computer:

Motherboard: Asrock AliveXfire-eSata2
CPU: Amd Athlon x2 64 bit 6000+ dual core
RAM: OCZ 2x1GB DDR800mhz Dual Channel (Might upgrade to 4x1GB dual channel soon)
Display: Acoustic Solutions 19" HD TV (Supports MAX 1440x900 resolutions i think) I will connect using HDMI or VGA

Is the 8800GT still the recommended one?

Thanks Once again..

Yes, don't let the ram amount throw you off. The 1gb version of 9600gt use the same processor as 512mb version. 8800gt's g92 gpu is more powerful than 9600gt's g94. 9600gt can't run the kind of resolution necessary to make use of 1gb anyway.

What about the 9600GT 512MB version? If its 8800GT again i'm not going to do any comparisons, i'm just going to go for that one...

Is cheaper and better.

Don't let the 96xx series throw you off, 8800GT is by far the best choice for that price range without doubt.

One question, what PSU do you use?
You might want to make sure it has a PCI-E connector before you order the video card.

I'm not sure.. the PSU was on the case when i got it, is the PCI-E connector a wire with 4 connectors?

Thanks.. if you want, i can send you a picture of what im talking about... btw i think the graphic card comes with the little power adapter for the PCI-E connetor...

If it works, leave it alone.

A picture would work.
Anyhow, if it comes with a power adapter, you should be fine. 450W PSU should handle your setup sufficiently.

Ok, I've checked and somewhere on my PSU it says "WIN Power" as brand i think.. then somewhere else it says
Model: atx-450

If it works, leave it alone.

Yeah, I tried looking up the specs for your power supply, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Wattages only mean so much, but I'd say it should be fine.

If you can find the specs on the PSU that'll help clarify things.
