Ok So basicly im struggling to decide what to do. I have about £200 (About $400) but things are slightly more expensive in the UK so.

I have a reasnobly good GPU (EVGA 8800GT) but I can sell that to my brother for about £100 if i want to ($200) just about everything else in my system is a bit dodgy.

Some Unbranded 533mhz 2GB ram
380w Antec Earth Watts Power supply
Pentium D 945 3.40Ghz CPU (Runs very hot - About 85 Degress C)
Foxxconn 946GZ7MA Mobo
Maxtor 160Gb Hard Drive
Pionear Dvd+RW DVD Drive (If This Matters)

I Am Looking To Upgrade And I am Not Sure what to with my money and what to keep and what to buy

I Do Moderate Gaming (eg. Race Driver Grid, Crysis, COD4) And I am looking to get good frame rates in all these games - I am not to bothered about Very High Settings ect. Just as long as it looks allrite.

I also do allot of Video editing and encoding so i tihnk a new CPU is definitly within my intersts.

So your opinion would be much appreciated. :D

Thankss.

Keep the 8800GT, but you need a better PSU badly, along with a new MB/CPU.

Maybe you can find a good P35 or P43 board at a good price, then get an E7200. Upgrade the RAM as you can.

Proximon's advice is good, but if you're thinking of adding another 8800GT in the future, then get a nForce 750i SLI board. A good choice for a PSU is the Corsair 650TX, able to hold two 8800GT's. And yes, later on upgrade to 4GB of DDR2-800. As for the CPU, an E7200 is great, or an E8x00 for some more $.

Yeh Sounds Like a plan, i was thinking about getting the Asus P5N-E 650i, is the P43 Much better than that as it is a similar price at about $110?

I was also looking at the E8400 Or the Q6600, but if i have to get a new PSU (I was thinking about 500w) then i may have to go for the E7200 like you said. What do you think about thatt??

Yes, but the only problem is if i get the 650TX it takes a huge chunk out of my budget. So If I am looking to Upgrade my GPU in the future would a 500w Silverstone do the job??

I Agree with you about the CPU's and the RAM But would i notice any difference between some unbranded cheapo 533mhz ram and some decent 800mhz ram?? And Like I said earlier would a P5n-e be ok for what i would like my PC to do??

Cheers :)

Do newegg ship to the uk?! And if they do how much It?

#1 - Do Not Get a New PSU. That PSU is great (Build by Seasonic) and will more than handle what you need right now. Your Money is better spent Elsewhere. You can upgrade that if and when you buy a Monster GPU card.

#2 - Yes, You need at least DDR2-800 for the New CPUs so allow for some overclocking. Most newer CPUs will either not post or underclock using DDR2-533 since DDR2-667 is the official minimum.

#3 - You will need a New Mobo. The P43 boards are very good for the Price.
The One Linked Above is reasonable. ASUS and GigaByte at good. There are others as well.

#4 - The E8400 is a Good PSU. If you need to save money, consider the E7200 which is good for the money as well.

No, NewEgg does not ship to the UK.
Try Linking a Few Products from your Favorite UK Store, and I can give more detailed recommendations.

Consider add a new HDD for space if you actually do video editing.

Zenmaster:

The MAX load on the 12V rails of an Antec Earthwatts 380W is 27A.

The required amps for an 8800GT is 26. I will grant that it probably does not pull that much normally under 100% load. 26A is simply the nVidia spec.

Let's just say that the system pulls another 5A off the 12V. Pretty conservative.

Now let's remember that this is not a new PSU... we'll again be conservative and say that it's been running at 80% of max for one year, off and on.... let's say 1500 hours.

Factor in his very hot CPU and the likelihood that the rest of the enclosure is toasty, and I give his PSU another two months. In fact, I'll bet if we ask we'll discover distorted graphics and flickering in his shooters right now, due to insufficient power supply.

Is there much of a difference in performace between the E7200 and the E8400 because I think it will be one of those 2 but the price difference is about £40 so I am not sure which 1 to go for?
