I'm building a new desktop pc . after some research on the web i chose the following

1. Intel Core 2 Quad Processor 9550
400$

2 ATI RADEON HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express Graphics Card
500$

3.Asus Rampage Extreme LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Asus Motherboard
400$

4.Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
200$

5.Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM (that would be for storage and another raptor 10000 rpm for windows OS)
200$

I'm planning to play crysis ,cod4 and some other high quality games on 1920*1200 . so the screen size would be 24".

I've got no plans to crossfire in the future , i didnt like how it performed in crysis after its been crossfired .

any advice or suggestions are welcome :)

9550 is usually cheaper. ddr3 is not better than ddr2, only more epansive so get good ddr2 800 with 4-4-4-12 timings. Why a x48 mobo if you will never crossfire? Get a p45 for half the price.

the thing is my pcs last for 4-5 years so ddr3 is more future proof (or at least i think) . p45s do not support ddr3 , so whenever ddr3 is the future i will have to upgrade (and i never do).

thanks !

You won't future proof by buying a system for 2000$... instead get one for 1000$ and upgrade 2 times faster. Nehalem will be out in what? 3 months... the cpu is bigger and requires a new motherboards (x58 chipset) and ddr3. You get instead a p45 motherboard 140$ and 4gb ddr2 800 80$ and in 2 years get a x58 motherboard with ddr3 that will be cheaper than it is now. You lose alot of mone yon a motherboard for unuseful ddr3 and unuseful crossfire.
