i hv been hearing that the mobo i chose wont work well with the OCZ Reaper 4gb of RAM, is that true? And if so, is there anyway i can bend around it so i can still use the RAM that I bought alrdy???

Just for a quick note, what is the "purpose" of this build? Gamimg? Workstation? Media Player?

Might want something like a Q9300 or better
8GB of RAm is easily plausible for over 2 grand

I haven't heard that the new raptors are anything special, could be wrong though.

Hmmm what are you going to be using this computer for.... what size monitor are you planning?.... and why did you choose AMD for your processor? Most gamers would go with a fast core 2 wolfsdale or yorkfield and a ATI/AMD 4XXX series videocard.... esp the new 4870x2 card. If you still have the reciept I would consider taking back the 9800 GTX and getting a fat 4870x2 or at least a 9800GX2. Or if you can use the trade up program trade up to the 9800gx2.

hmmm the comp is mostly going to b for all 3..... gaming, media player and workin.....i use a 24" samsung lcd.......hmmm i cant refund the 9800 GTX cuz i alrdy done the rebate.......just having trouble figuring what i should get for mobo and cpu.......since i alrdy bought the video card, ps, and the ram, i might as well stick with em.....and if i do switch up the hard drive with the less rpm, what should i get with the spare $ from the new raptors?

2300$ budget?? dude dont buy amd.. intel is faster.. get the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 cpu, asus 790i motherboard, and get another 9800 for sli..

i personally don't think the velociraptor is worth it. sure it is a little faster than drives that cost half as much or less and have more than double the memory but the reality tends to be it isn't very noticeable and doesn't really effect your gaming. it is nice to have if you have pimped your more important stuff out but lots of places to spend money before there. and if i am reading correctly you are getting 2? that is almost 600 bucks? too bad you already got your video card. you could do some pretty awesome stuff with that $$.

+1 for an intel build due to big budget.

It looks like you bought Crossfire certified Memory??...... so you will have a difficult time finding an SLI motherboard that will support it.......not saying it wont work just saying it wont be on the list of memory modules that the motherboard manufacturer's prefer.

Its DDR2 so I would look to an older x38 or 780i northbridge chipset. Ussually people pick thier motherboard first then buy the memory that is recommended for it, as most of the compatibility issues involve memory.

If you can return the memory ...I would consider doing that first. The OCZ memory configurer is pretty weak and doesnt have very many boards mentioned there. Its kind of a crap shoot as to weather that ram will work with any motherboard you choose.

I looked at the newegg comments on that ram and the motherboards mentioned there was the XFX 780i, Asus P5Q deluxe, Asus P5Q Pro, Asus P5k deluxe wifi, GA-X48-DS4. Of these the XFX 780i is the best match for the parts you currently have. You may also want to google other peoples computer builds to look for ram/motherboard compatiblity.

You have 100 days from the time you purchased the card to upgrade..... the one to get is the 9800GX2.

Dude...OMG I can't believe what you did. Seriously you have to try and send back the 9800GTX and the RAM that you bought. I don't think you know how good of a Computer that you could've built yourself with $2300. It sounds like you just jumped into this too fast. Im NOT trying to offend you in any way shape or form but you made some big bad choices with the way your spending these very good 2300 dollars.

Here is what you could've gotten yourself if you would've done some research. If you can return those components (the Graphics Card, RAM, and PSU) you could get yourself this rig. Note that this rig only comes out to about $2000, maybe even $1950 after rebates, which is $300 under your budget.

This system comes out to like $2000 after rebates which is $300 under your $2300 budget and this kills the AMD system that you are planning on building.

Once again. I am NOT trying to offend you in any way shape or form but it sounds like you just went in way to fast. You just started buying parts without much thought. You said you bought a 9800GTX and someone said your RAM is Crossfire Certified (Which is for ATI Cards Not Nvidia) that tells me you didn't do to much research. I hope you can return those parts and start over again and get the Components that I listed above. I really hate to see those very good 2000+ dollars go to waste on that AMD system. You could get something MUCH more better with that money without getting anywhere near your budget.

Since you can't return the 9800 try to sell it on Ebay. You probably get at least 150 bucks for it on ebay. Maybe im wrong though. but you should check it out.
