You can benefit from a RAM upgrade and a video card upgrade, but your system is nearing obsolescence. We can do OK with 500 though, keeping power requirements down for the PSU.

Give me a sec and I'll whip up a list.

That's $473 before whatever tax or shipping the egg hits you with, couple rebates in there brings it down some.

Here is a good budget build for you.

Gigabyte GA-EP45DS3L:___________$107.99
2Gb DDR2 800 4-4-4-15:__________$49.49 - $30 MIR = $19.49
E2180:________________________$69.99
Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro:________$26.99
MSI 4850 with upgraded cooling:___$192.99 - $30 MIR = $162.99
PCP&C 610W PSU:_______________$109.99 - $30 MIR = $79.99

Total Before MIR's: $557.44
Total After MIR's: $467.44

If this is still to much for you, the build can be further trimmed.
If you can squeeze out a little more cash, it can get some good upgrades for not much more.

Even at stock speeds, the E2180 will be more powerful than your current P4D.
It's real power is shown through overclocking.
You should have no problem overclocking it to 3.0Ghz and probably even higher.

If you can afford a little more, I would recomend upgrading the above with

ASUS P5Q-E:_______$159.99
E7200:___________$119.99

and a second set of the RAM.

This will give you a motherboard that is CrossFire compatiable so you can add a second 4850 later and a much better overclocking CPU.

Looks good!
It will be a hell of an upgrade from what you have now.
If you run into any problems with the build or with overclocking it, just drop a post!

Those are great choices. Yes newegg is fine. Tigerdirect doesn't have the selection it once had, sadly... but there are still quality parts you can find there that newegg doesn't have, like Ultra X3 PSUs.
