Whenever you upgrade, do it right. Piecemeal one at a time upgrades are less successful. Now is a good time, since the nehalem Intel cpu will most likely work only with ddr3. For Intel chipsets, the x48 is your only choice for sli. Personally, I'd switch to a better video card such as the 4870 and cheaper motherboard with one video slot, such as the asrock p43 twins 1600. I use the Fry's' combo specials if possible. Depends on your other accessories, such as wireless or hdmi.

it's not what other people think that counts ,it's what you think, and are you content with the results,do your games play at an acceptable fps,if YOU are not satisfied then you know what to do..:)

^I agree with dokk2....if your rig is still satisfying all your needs, theres no reason to upgrade it...once your games become unplayable at your desired settings, then look into upgrading....and when upgrading from an older system, sometimes its best to simply get as much as you can for your current rig in order to fund your next one...today, you can get a beasty comp for around $400-$500...

Your cpu probably IS slowing down your fps...but like dokk2 and ahslan have noted, if your happy with current game performance stick with what you've got.

If you do decide to upgrade though, look into replacing the entire box - then give your old one to charity for a tax write-off. It's not going to pay for the new system, but you can think of it as a discount off of the new systems price.

Isn't it the upcoming x58 that will do SLI ? I think the x48 will only do Crossfire.

If your rig now gives you the performance you want and need, then keep it. However a complete upgrade would and is a wise idea though, since parts are pretty cheap and will provide a better game experience and let you play the latest titles.

He needs to rebuild, the P5nD2-SLI does NOT support duo/quad processers of any type (the P5nD2-SLI Delux does however...).
