Below is what I have come up with,  I am reusing my CD/DVD drives and my Audigy 2 Sound Card.  Down the road I will probably get another vid card for crossfire and look into liquid cooling.  Anything look out of whack or NonCom?

Why do you insist on going with an AMD?

I am a newbie when it comes to building systems, this is my second build. I put together a system for my in-laws on newegg.com

This is the problem I am having... First, I hate the CPU fans that come from Intel and AMD. They are the biggest pain in the rear end EVER! I still dont think I have got the thing secure on there but that is the least of my worries... Anyway, I got all the hardware placed into the case and connected together, hit the power button with OEM version of Windows XP SP3, everything started out great.. I got to the "detecting your systems config" screen and out of nowhere, I got the blue screen of death. Turned the machine off checked all of my connections and now it stops at the boot screen on "verifying DMI pool data" after about two min of sitting on that screen the system shuts down. I dont know! I have no idea what to think at this point. Also, my USB connections on the back didnt recognize my USB mouse/keyboard (4 USB's on rear panel, none work) The only 2 that work are on the front of the case... I figured this out before the blue screen of death. Please help, I really dont know what to do here. How do I test this hardware to find out if it is bad without buying new parts and replacing all of them.... TIA!!

The Antec 900 is a good case, but it is kinda expensive, so try looking at the Xion II for a cheaper case.
 
The processor u are looking at  right now is overkill! 4 PCI-e slots?!?!?! ur getting 1 4850. u should be spending ur money on a better QUALITY motherboard rather than paying money for 4 PCI-e slots of which u are only gonna use one. If u really want ATI graphics then thats fine, but atleast give yourself an intel motherboard, so u will atlest have a good, running machine. Try getting the intel DX38BT motherboard. Its really fast and itll support ur 4850.
 
Ill try to recommend a processor to you that is close to what u are paying for the 9850 black edition, so i'd go with the core 2 Quad Q6600(2.4ghz), which can be overclocked to like 3.2 GHZ and its $199. Or pay alittle more and get a Core 2 Quad Q6700(2.66 ghz) which is $260. Either way, u should really stick with this intel mobo and this intel processor. Trust me.
 
Even tho u have intel mobo and an intel processor, u can still put ur 4850 on it and maybe even do crossfire with them later.
 
Your power supply looks fine, but for a little more money u can get the Ultra X3 PSU which is fully modular. But what u have now is fine
 
The DX38BT Motherboard uses DDR3, and that is what the entire world is gonna be using in the next couple of years, so if u want to build a future proof computer, stick with DDR3.  I got 2 gigs OCZ 1333 DDR3 memory for $110. 2 GIGS should be more than enough because its DDR3
 
I dont understand why ur gonna put an  80 GB hardrive in RAID with a 750 GB hard drive. Just get two 500 GB drives if u really want a lot of memory. But honestly i hold all of the movies and pictures and songs for my family, and it all fits fine on my 250 GB HDD. even if i did run out of space, later i could buy another Hard drive and put it in RAID, or i could just get and External drive.
 
As for cooling, try the Zerotherm Nirvana NV120. It comes with the thermal paste, and it keeps the processor VERY cool. its kinda big tho so make sure u got alotta space.

His post was quite informative, you didn't know the rules of the forum and he just informed you of them, no need to be mean about it. Create your own topic so that others can help you more easily and you can receive informative posts. Most forums work the same way, and don't like it when you put your own problems into other people's threads.

To the original poster: I disagree, I'd rather have 4 gigs of ddr2 than 2 of ddr3, maybe if you really needed to overclock you could use the ddr3. Also, the q6600 is great, but if you use the comp for mostly gaming, the e8400 can be overclocked very well and would offer better performance for games. For the power supply, everyone seems to recommend the Corsair 750W PSU if you're OCing and doing crossfire. There are other good ones, but that one on Newegg is one helluva deal.

I went with AMD because I always had good luck and have been very happy and always felt they were more bang for the buck,  its been several years since I poked around so I will check out the Intel sinc eso many think its a better choice now.  I was not setting up a RAID but just having one small hard drive for the operating system and the other drive for programs,  I have another 500 gig in use now for my data.
