Hello everyone, after scouring all the other threads here that have similarly themed/priced gaming build's listed, I am trying to get your feedback on my build before I purchase it. I will be ordering all the parts from Newegg (I live very close and get stuff quick). I am hoping to order within the next day or two- so that Newegg will process it next Monday after the Holiday/Weekend right away. Here is my current build-- Please let me know if I am overlooking any incompatibility issues or any other oversights. I am *NOT* married to this build at all, so I would greatly appreciate any suggestions how to improve or save a few bucks. RAM: 83.99 :: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - Retail Case/PSU : 124.95 :: Antec Sonata III 500 Black 0.8mm cold rolled steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Retail Mobo 149.99 :: ASUS P5Q Pro LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail GFX Card 194.99 :: ASUS EAH4850/HTDI/512M Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail CPU 189.99 :: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400 - Retail Hard Drive 59.99 (looking for a better/bigger option) :: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250410AS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM CPU Cooler 26.99 :: ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler - Retail
The Gfx card also has a 30 dollar Mail IN rebate... meaning I am getting the mobo/gfx combo for 60 bucks off!
I am willing to go to around 1000 max on this system, and want the best bang for my buck. What have I done right? Where have I gone wrong? I look forward to hearing your opinions! Message edited by fazumar on 07-04-2008 at 01:59:02 AM |

I'm getting pretty much the same build except I'm going going for the P35 Mobo instead. I've got a friend with the same build I'm ordering and it's absolutely fantastic. You could probably go with the same mobo I'm getting for a cheaper price but if you're satisfied with that then stick with it.

Ok, I have made a few adjustments which has raised my price total, but only about 50 bucks OVER my budget (AFTER tax and shipping) Once you factor in 50 bucks worth of MI Rebates, I can live with that.

I wouldn't get the combo. The 650TX is one of the best PSUs out there. The CoolerMaster PSUs on the other hand have a bad reputation.
