Hi

Just looking for feedback on the system I'm going to build. I'm not a hardcore gamer but I want to play moslty flight sim x and COH type games. I'm not playing Crysis so I don't need to push the envelope. I'm not planning on Crossfire.

I have a 22" monitor and already have Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

I'm not going to overclock and want this to last a while. I've searched this forum extensively and already taken advice with my picks.

Here is my build

Questions:
1. Will the motherboard be ok with a 45nm Quad? I'm a little confused on the whole P35/P45/X48 comparisons.
2. Will the case's PSU (500w) work for my setup (4850 no crossfire)
3. Is the case big enough for for the 4850
4. Does the mfr of the 4850 matter?
5. I'm not OC'ing, will the retail cpu fan be alright.?
6. Does playing on a 22" require more horsepower in the GPU?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

1st time poster, be gentle...

1) Yes the P45 chipset natively supports 45nm processors so you are ok on that.
2) The PSU is adequate. Requirements for 4850 is 450 watts. Without an overclock, you should be fine.
3) Case should be big enough
4) MFR doesn't matter too much right now as all cards are reference design(ATI specs, no special cooling/clock speeds) Only thing that is different is warranty and support.
5) Without OC you should be fine with stock HSF. If you find you are running too warm then add on something after the fact, but you should be fine.
6) Depends on the resolution of your monitor. Should be fine, but if you have a higher res monitor, you might not be able to run all the eye candy.

So I'm thinking if a 4850 requires 450w then a 500w might now be very efficient. Any power supply recommendations..

BTW, I found the Q9450 at Microcenter.com for 299.00

Bump

Just got a Q9450 retail for 249 at Frys. Pretty Sweet deal.

So would P35 work ok for this or would you go for P45 Motheboard?

So I'm pulling the trigger tonight but I have a few questions:

I'm not going to crossfire the 4850, will this power supply work? I like the fact that its modular for airflow purposes.

I would have went with the P45 mobo if you haven't ordered yet. That psu is fine. Get the WD 640, it has better performance despite lower cache.

I have been on both companies websites trying to find out info about each. Asus seemed to be more of a fit but I am probably not the guy to ask.
