I've got a setup here through NCIX [Canadian site] and I would just like to make sure everything is decent. I got the motherboard most recommended and the reason I'm doing NCIX opposed to DirectCanada is because it looks like they assemble the computer, something I'd really prefer to have because I'm by all means a a novice at this.

The total comes to $1220 Canadian with the monitor included, shipping is free and after taxes, $18 for insurance for shipping [which I assume I should get] and the environmental fee it comes to $1412.

Just double checking to make sure I'm not overdoing or missing something. I also assume the 500W power supply in the case will suffice.

Edit: It's $1494 after taxes and other stuff if I change the monitor to a BenQ 2400W with 5ms response time. Seems like a better deal, any real reason to not go with this instead of the 22 inch Samsung?

Id go with a 4870. The extra power will be a good thing at the monitors native which is 1680x1050. A 4850 may not be able to display at that resolution pushing good frames per second.

The rest is solid.

If you can still afford the HD4870, why would you chose HD4850?
500W? Yup, it is enough.

I'd rather not put much more money into it than I have to, as it is this is kind of out of my price range. Is the difference going to be that huge? If it's well worth it I'll get the 4870, it's just that from what I've read it might not necessarily be worth it money wise.

Also, if anyone has an opinion on the monitor I'm sorta curious. I might just stick with the Samsung for picture quality.

Get a P45 motherboard. P35 is on its way out.

I've decided to stick with the 4850. It's about $100 more for the 4870 and really doesn't appear to be worth it. I'll also consider the P45 instead, I'm just trying to stay around the same price range if at all possible and since I doubt I'll be doing much, if any, overclocking, the P35 seems to suit my needs just fine. Like I said though, I'll take a look into it, I just don't know if NCIX will assemble one with that mobo.

well the 4870 is better than the 4850. with the 4870 you get a good boost in performance and quality when playing.
