I'm looking for a quality soundcard for doing light recording, it doesnt need to have multiple inputs but that would definitely be nice

I would LOVE to have an M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard
(4 inputs- rca and midi)
but i run vista home premium 64 and M-audio still doesnt have drivers available (they have a beta version but id rather not go through the hassle of signing up for it and buying the card if its still buggy)

price range is under 100.00

i only really need stereo output, but i dont mind a good recomendation with 5.1/7.1

so any ideas for a good alternative?

Several decent cards out there and Creative finally has nice Vista 64 support, so their cards in that range will likely be quite solid: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] -%20%24100 .

You've also got the Asus Xonar DX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6829132006
NewEgg's reviews state that there is Vista64-bit support

The Auzentech X-Plosion Cinema 7.1 is reported to have 64-bit Vista support on their website and the card is $100 @ NewEgg currently: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6829156006

The HT-Omega Striker ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6829271001 )also has Vista64-bit support according to their driver download page.

There's some choices. Due to the extremely good experience I've had this year with Creative's 64-bit drivers I'd probably go with that $100 Fatal1ty Titanium, especially if there's any gaming to be done now or in the future.

Yes, I use an Intel Quad. Sometimes its a little overclocked, sometimes a bit underclocked. Yet, its always nice, the virtualiztion is sick. And?

Instead of the Creative consumer cards there are the Emu cards. You may be able to find a 1212m for your price range or the 0404 would be cheaper. Both have drivers for XP and Vista 64 and you may find a decent software bundle.

Should be able to find plenty of reviews and discussions on them for research.
