Hi,

* Socket: AM2
* Supports the following processors:
o Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology (64 Watt only)
o Athlon 64
o Sempron

That is the supported chipset for my mobo, I am looking to upgrade to one of the x2 processors i have found either 125w 45w or 65watt im sure 125 wont work but will a 45 or 65watt work? Id like to avoid having to upgrade mobo as well but I am just a little stuck thanks for your help in advance Below is a link to my full mobo specs, I just need a little help as far as what my options are atm or my best move would be. I thank you in advance for any help.

the wattage isn't going to determine if you can use the cpu or not. an am2 board should handle most or all X2's.

My guess is that HP put the wattage limit in there because of limits on the MB's power circuitry and/or in the PS supplied with the computer -- this computer is not a high-end design. As for which lower-power CPU will work, you'll have to check with HP to find out which specific CPUs are supported by the latest BIOS update for that PC. You may also have to update your BIOS.
