Why are you getting a P45 board for a CrossFire setup like this? It will only do 8X x2 in Crossfire as opposed to the X38 or X48 boards which will do 16X x2 CrossFire. --------------- Never under estimate peoples capacity for stupidity, and you won't be disappointed. |

im pretty sure tat psu will b enough for 4870x2. I got the same psu and waiting 4 the same graphics. i got no worries. It looks pretty powerful with 52a on the 12v rail. Wonder how many 6 pin connectors the 4870 is gonna have, 4870 has two 6 pin...perhaps two 8 pins --------------- why have sex when u can play computer games?!? |

he means sparta the single card i think? But anyways if it says 650 then you will be find because they normally over estimate and that corsair is really like a 700watt compared to cheap power supplys. |

It's definately not enough for 4870x2 plus an oced 65nm quad. It'll boot, but crush on full load. Brands aside, a tractor made by BMW is still just a tractor. When it's not enough, it's not enough. You'd need at least 750w with good 12v rail ratings, ideally 850+w just to be safe and leave some headroom.

I'm looking to get a 4870x2 and I have a OCZ 700w gameXstream. So I guess that would run it. And it has 4 12v Rail with 18A on each (for I guess 48A total) is that good? --------------- Have No Fear...Master Chief Is here |

Its a little premature to be guessing on the power consumption an HD 4870X2, seeing as we haven't yet seen any real info on the product. You can take a wild assed guess based 4870 x 2 but that is no guarantee. Just wait for it, or else make sure you add a comfortable margin just in case. Also, when using that power supply calculator, make sure you include your planned overclock on the cpu, and allow 10-20% at least for capacitor aging. --------------- Never under estimate peoples capacity for stupidity, and you won't be disappointed. |

from the initial reference boards for the 4870 x2 had a 6 and an 8 pin connector and it looked like it could run with just 2 6 pins |
