Microsoft to include Crossfire support in Windows Vista

Someone please help! I have 2 ATI Radeon 3870s crossfired, but even though I have crossfire enabled in ccc, There is absolutely NO improvement in benchmarks in 3dmark or fps in half life 2. Its showing exactly the same score and fps as when I only use one card. I've done Hours of research on this and so far found nothing. Anyones help would be greatly appreciated!

Here are my system specs:
Gigabyte ma790x-ds4
AMD dual-core 3.2gigs
2 gigs mushkin+2gigs corsair xms(4 gigs ram)
2 ati radeon 3870s
seagate 250gig hard drive

Downlaod and install the latest 8.6 catalyst drivers.

Download and install GPUZ and be sure installing the 8.6 driver is running two cards in Crossfire.

Also, back all the sliders down in CCC if they are maxed out.

I've tried all that. Do you think maybe my mobo or cpu could be bottlenecking? The second pcie slot is only 8x, I know there isn't a huge difference between 8x and 16x, or dual core and quad core, but i'm running out of ideas and i'm willing to try anything!
