I'd first like to say Tom's hardware has been a very helpful resource as I've been designing a computer.

Welcome to the forums!
--------------- If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce today would cost $100, get a million miles to the gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside. PSA |

Interesting, I've heard many times that Nvidea had the edge on ATI. So you're sure a card like this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814131111 Will outperform even the better Nvidea I mentioned? The reason I want the best card possible is I want to run games on the best settings I can pull decent FPS on for as long as possible without upgrading.

With the choices for GPUs out their i would honestly not pick either of the 2 you had linked, especially with a 17" monitor. If i had to pick one it would be the 9800GTX. The outlaws suggestion of a HD4850 is a good one. Powercolor HD4850 at $170 after rebate

A good P45 with a Q9450 4 gigs of ram and 4870 seems to be top end system on a mid range budget. --------------- Robert Wilensky: We've all heard that a million monkeys banging on a million typewriters will eventually reproduce the entire works of Shakespeare. I don't know if I should make a new topic for this, I don't want to clutter the forums, so I'll just ask here. Whats the best Motherboard that will work with the wolfdale 8400 that's under or around 100 bucks, I currently selected this one.

The P35 chipset is starting to get a bit aged. I would recommend spending a little more and going with something P45 based. Here are a few that may meet your needs:
