My PSU always fails, 2 have failed and 1 has caused damages to my previous motherboard within three months. 1 year later, now the PSU fails again, it's actually a total new system.

AMD X2 3600
1GB RAM
400W MATX PSU

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks to all. :)

This time the PSU dies with a "Pop" sound.
Perhaps my PSUs are too bad.

Is it good to use surge protector also?

Theres not really a downside, but make sure the Surge protector isn't el cheapo, and comes with a few thousand $ guarantee.

Corsair, TAGAN, Antec, Silverstone, Enermax are the best!
Get also a surge protector and if you need it, buy also a UPS.

Get decent surge protector. I always figure $50 at a minimum.

Buy a UPS. Possibly even more important than the surge protector. Friend of mine lost 2 Corsair PSUs and an ASUS mobo before he figured out that his poqer company blows. Bought a UPS, no more problems.

^+1 for UPS. Actually plug the UPS in to a surge protector and the PC to the UPS.
