they all use the same reference card provided by amd. the differences are in the cooler, the warranty, accessories, and they'll eventually start selling overclocked versions. look for the brands with lifetime warranties like xfx, evga, bfg, and make sure to get one with adequate cooling.

lol well thank you for the info, would there happen to have any leaked information at the moment about which features will be applied with each. i dont really care about the sound of my rig as long as it performs and doesnt overheat. so my biggest concerns are the cooler on the card and warranty sounds good but the cooler and overall quality are my biggest concerns |

Wait a few more weeks. We are already seeing different versions of the 4850, so Im thinking within a couple weeks youll see differing versions of the 4870 --------------- Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief, they all kill their inspiration then sing about their grief |

I don't know for sure what the specs will be, but they are probably similar to 4850, maybe additional core speed, and I believe it will have DDR5 memory, which will be faster than DDR 3. I have had great success with Sapphire cards, MSI, and Ati brand cards. Other companies out there which make Ati cards are visiontek, and powercolor. |

Sapphire is good. If you prefer a quieter cooler card, sometimes HIS offers nice solutions. The core is reportedly 750, the memory is reportedly 3600Mhz --------------- Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief, they all kill their inspiration then sing about their grief |

ATI doesn't sell their own cards anymore do they? Peronsally, I prefer Sapphire. I like their Toxic coolers they fabricate for their cards too. Little more expensive, but makes a single slot solution out of an otherwise dual slot solution and the cooling is usually pretty damn good, and quieter. |

if they are all priced the same like the 4850 is on newegg, I'd say go for the lifetime warranty....VisionTek --------------- Intel E3110(3.2ghz)/GA-P35-DS3L/4gigs DDR2-800/MSI 8800GTS 512 OC/2xSeagate 320 WD 120/Ultra X2 Connect 550/22" Compaq P1220 Vista Ult. 64 SP1 ![]() |

so from what i have been reading and gathering from your posts, that take a first look at visiontek, and sapphire then look at the other choices and if they dont stand up to it in price and overall comparison go for the saphire or visiontek whichever i prefer. glad to hear there is no large manufacturing difference in the quality of the cards or someone who wins handsdown always better hardware when theres competition. |
