Hello
I posted a question in the Nvidia section about my games stuttering sporatically. I've been talking to Nvidia tech support, but they aren't helping much.

I have a theory that that its not the video card thats causing my problem, its my CPU. I noticed the specs for my motherboard say "Support CPU up to 95W"
The CPU I chose is an X2 6000+ which is 125W.

Would that cause the computer to stutter and hang?

M3N78-EMH HDMI
Athlon x2 6000+
2 GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
Geforce 8600 GTS

It would, but I think it has more to do with the video card then CPU. I know this happens on notebooks if GPU temperature gets too high.

Can you run 2 instances of Prime 95s, and see if its stable?

I'm afraid to run any torture tests. I've heard if the wattage is wrong it can fry the motherboard or cpu.

Downclock your cpu to match a mid range 95w model's spec and see what that does first

Thats a good idea.
I see options to overclock the CPU in the BIOS, but not downclock.
How would I do that?
