Was looking at this Mobo, GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128086

Has everything i want for a decent price, But is it a good choice?

Well, this board has one of the best options for de chipset but not the best in the powe phases for a Quad Core processor.
I would go P35 DS4 or higher or ASUS P5Q Deluxe or Premium.

how do you determine power phases? i would like to do some more research into this, can you explain how to know whats a good board in terms of power phases? Thank you!

after considering your reply ive come across this for 200 bucks,

The mobo you just listed is a good mobo for overclocking and should be fine.

If you don't want to overclock much beyond an FSB of 400MHz, the EP35-DS3R is good. I have it stable at 400MHz with my Q9450. I can't really get it stable much beyond.

hmm i think i like the asus the most, but ive been going back and forth between the q9300 and e8400.
