I recently bought the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103211 to upgrade from my AMD Athlon 64 3200+. After installing it, nothing happens when i turn on the computer. The lights on the motherboard turn on but when i press the power button it doesnt start up. I checked my motherboard and stuff before hand and my motherboards socket is AM2 so that shouldnt be the problem. I'm not sure what model motherboard it is since it's a Dell and it doesnt show what it is in CPU z. Anybody have any ideas?

Sorry, the link is broken at present. What is the CPU you have purchased? Did you check with Dell what you can upgrade to? If new PSU uses more power, PSU may not be good enough. Are you OK if replace original CPU?, If so, is DOA CPU or PSU issue.

This is the wrong place to ask about proprietary MB.

You need to go to Dell Support:
http://support.dell.com/support/do [...] gen&~ck=gp
You don't need the MB model number. Just search by model, tag, etc. Try to find a newer BIOS for your Dell model that supports the ??? (why post a nonworking link ??? - just tell us the CPU!!) AM2 processor you have bought.

You need to post here if you can't find a suitable BIOS update:
http://www.dellcommunity.com/suppo [...] d=dim_bios

You won't find many people using Dell desktops on these forums...
Also you are unlikely to get help if you can't even tell us the Dell model!!
