Hey I just noticed these new cases from Lian-Li. They definitely look great, but ugh the prices!

New PC-A77

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811112176

Definitely nice, but for $320, that is really steep, though the fan controller kind of makes up for that.

New PC-A7010

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811112178

Ugh this one is trying to kill me! It is exactly the same as the PC-A70 except the front looks different, and costs SO much more! Look:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811112141
Compare $329 to $229, that's a $100 difference, and they are IDENTICAL in everything except the front!

New PC-A20

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6811112182

This one looks nice... looks quiet... decent cooling and nothing really special... wonder how much.... THREE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-NINE DOLLARS ~ $389?! Honestly I don't understand these new cases, sure Lian-Li has always been known for it's unbeatable quality, and the price to go with it. What I do not get is why they are charging such ridiculous amounts of money for cases that are almost totally identical to their previous cases which cost far less and had no real faults that these cases could fix!

What do you guys think? I have never really cared about Lian-Li until recently when the idea of spending more than $100 on a case started to make sense to me, so is this how it goes. Will these cases get extreme price drops soon? I am debating whether to buy the Lian-Li PC-A70 sometime before Xmas, but the PC-A7010 does look nicer. If it is $250 then I'll buy the PC-A7010, but I can't really go any higher. Reason is what ever case I get will have these purchased with it:

http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/produ [...] s_index=73
http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/produ [...] s_index=81

Thats an extra $100+ not to mention the $60+ for fans and $20 for lights!

If I have forgotten any of the new cases feel free to post them. I guess I just want to see the forum goers opinions on these cases.

Yes, their Full Tower cases have always been prohibitively expensive. And the newer models are always carry a premium over the older designs.

I'd say that I am not surprised, most of their cases have sported a hefty premium price over the years and that's especially true for their full tower case. Quality has a price and Lian Li is definitely charging for it. Most people would find their cases boring and I don't totally disagree but construction and built material are top notch. I think they appeal to a crowd that enjoys quite and subdue elegance as well as one with deep pockets.

Uhhm I would go to:
www.performance-pcs.com
since they specialise in cases and powersupplies... You can actually email Hank and he will tell you relative merits of the newer Lian-Li cases. Their prices also appear to be better than Newegg... They even have better pictures of the cases than Newegg!

Nice choice of cases BTW!! Think of it this way... A case is an investment that will last years and years... Add up all the CPU and GPU changes you make over 10 years versus the $200-$300 paid out once for the case initially!! The only other manufactures that come close are Antec and Silverstone - even then it is not that close!!

I would look out for removeable top and hot-swap SATA trays (nice!!) in the new cases... I don't think the older models (read: A70) have these features? Well worth the extra in my opinion...

I am a total Lian-Li fanboi :sol: :sol: :sol: (currently have an older watercooled PC7077 model).

Agree 100%

What I don't like is that they don't have motherboard trays so it can be difficult to work with your motherboard. I've also had problems on midi cases with the size of the chamber for the PSU.

because suckers will pay it is why, 55 bucks for a Centurion 5 series, and I did not cut my hand off installing stuff, plenty of space, and the rest of the time it sits there, same as the expensive cases !

1) All those newer cases have removeable motherboard trays (finally!!). The A70 claims to as well (not sure 'bout that one).
2) The_Blood_Raven is looking at server cases (i.e. more room for the PSU!!)

Yeah the PC-A70 does have a removable motherboard tray. The PC-A70 is not meant to be a server case for me, just a big case with GREAT cooling, and thanks BobWya's link I might have other options. I used to think Silverpcs.com had the best prices for Lian-Li cases. royalcrown is right, if he is plenty happy with the Cent. 5 then good for him, I am just not that lucky. Hey if you want to spend $400+ (case plus accessories) like I do on a case then good for you, if you can be happy with a case that costs $50 then GREAT for you! It all comes down to taste, I want to see that Lian-Li PC-A70B glowing red with menace, red LED fans of course. Anyway I understand the prices ( Lian-Li quality premium + new model premium = price), I do not understand what you are getting for them. The PC-A77 I can see, it is different then the previous full tower models and sports a nice fan controller included. The PC-A20 would also be fine if it was at a similar price, but alas it is not and it is definitely overpriced. Then we get to the PC-A7010 which is a PC-A70 with a different front panel, everything else is exactly the same, and it costs almost $100 more. I suppose these prices will fall, though I am not naive enough to think people are not buying these cases, but I know that the real sales are waiting for the price cut. Thanks to BobWya's link that price cut might not have to be too extreme. Yes, I did know that Newegg.com terribly overcharges for Lian-Li and Silverstone cases, but it was still a valid reference I thought. So what do you think of the cases individually, the PC-A77 and PC-A7010 are very nice looking cases and of course with a little bit of Lian-Li built modding, they can be even nicer!

Edit: BobWya I am in love with this site, they have pictures that you can actually discern what is what on a black case, and the prices are great. Honestly I can not even count how many times I have been forced to look for a silver or white version of a case on Newegg just so I could see what it looked like!

Performance PCs are really helpful with finding out about stuff and shipping to the UK (for me) is a steal. Hanks takes Paypal and ships the stuff US Postal Service (so generally no customs charges this end if I don't overspend on each order!!) I even ordered my current Lian Li 7077 case from them (+PC Power Cooling PSU, waterblocks, etc., etc.). Don't ask them to do any case mods 'cause they do a very amaterish job of this (well cutting out for PA120.3 rad.) Mind you the side vents I asked for look smokin'!!

It is a very handy website for ordering cases ' cause you can examine them from every angle and spot all the flaws and useful features... Also they have an excellent range of PSU's... I had to get my Ultra X3 1000Watt PSU from Hank as I couldn't find any available in the UK!!

Like I said BEFORE with the newer Lian-Li cases the harddisk trays now have hot-swap SATA connectors built-in = price premium (not sure where the rest of the money is going)

Hot swappable for $100+, nope still do not get it. Yeah I refuse to allow a dealer to mod any of my products, because they usually rush it. Also the PSU prices really suck there, but the case prices are great!
