Hello to everybody, I'm new and have some questions.

I'm in the process of acquiring information about parts for my HTPC/GAMING pc and i would
like a recommendation for a HTPC case that will match the following items:

processor - intel E8400/Q9300
MB - asus P5Q
graphics - HD 4850/4870

well i need a HTPC case that will have the best air circulation for this "getting HOT" hardware...

I saw the Silverstone lascala LC17...looks nice, not to expensive, but will it be good for my setup?

your help and recommendations is much appreciated. :pt1cable:

A few questions:

Budget?
How many hard drives are you planning to install?
Do you need a built in IR receiver for a remote? Do you want a bundled remote?
Do you want a front panel display?

I would definitely go for a 4870 video card since they haven't come out with dual slot 4850's yet. You will need to push that hot air out of the case for sure.

Take a look at www.pcalchemy.com for cases. They have a very good selection. Also, take a look at the new Omaura HTPC cases like the Omaura 11. They look pretty sweet.

The Omaura's look sweet, but are not made for high-performance gaming hardware, just a very capable HTPC setup. The ideal case for you would either be the LC 17 you stated above (my brother built his in one) or the Lian Li C31 (and to a lesser extend the C30 and C32). The C31 is awesome due to it's dual 120mm fans (just like the Antec NSK2480 - which I own), however, it will limit you to a mATX board (just like the NSK2480). Overall, if you MUST go for an ATX mb, the Silverstone LC17 is what you need.

Here's an excellent mATX motherboard if you want to go that route:
GIGABYTE GA-G33M-S2L LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - $95

Edit:
Here's a better one (since no one has the G33-DS2H or DS2R anymore):
ASUS P5K-VM LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - $97

thank so much for the comments...
well checked the C31, but it's way more expensive than the LC17 about double the price of a LC17 case.
(at least where i live...)
so i think LC17 is the right one for me :)

thanks for helping me decide... :bounce:

i would really appreciate a recommendation for PSU for the LC17 case and setup mentioned above.
:)

Something modular, like:

Corsair 520/620HX
Enermax Modu82+
Enermax Liberty
XClio GreatPower
Seasonic M12/M12II
Antec NeoHE
FSP Everest
Silverstone ST60F/ST70F/ST75F/DA650/DA700

Modular means that the cables from the PS are detachable, you don't need to clutter the case with a lot of unused cabling. Especially useful for HTPC cases.

modular means that the cords for PCIe, SATA, Molex and sometimes ATX/EPS can be disconnected, so if you aren't using them, they aren't taking up space in your case (which is especially of concern with HTPCs).

Guess I don't type fast enough.

oh, OK...yeah i thought about this feature...it's great. didn't knew it's called modular.

well i think i'll go with the corsair 520HX, will it be enough for the setup?
let's say just in theory that in the future i will want CF, this Psu can handle it?

I have nothing witty to say.

40A on the 12V rail should definitely handle the 4850 Xfire, but I'd pick up the 620HX if you intend to go the 4870 route (for safety purposes). Maybe others can chime in on that issue.

are you talking about 4870 Crossfire or a single card?
520W will not handle the single 4870? :pt1cable:

40A would be pushing it for 4870 CrossFire. Sorry I didn't clarify.

The 520HX is perfect for a single 4870.
