I haven't seen anyone start a thread on this yet, and surprisingly I haven't seen anything about it one the usual rumor mills, but apparently AMD has released a Barcelona Opteron for the AM2/AM2+ socket.
Oh yeah I saw those. I was pretty curious as well, the optys only consume 75W compared to 95W(?) on the phenoms. And 125W on the high end phenoms.
Possible overclocking machines??
The Hypertransport is running faster compared to the regular Phenoms. 2000 Mhz instead of 1800. Depending on their price and the history of desktop opterons used for overclocking, they could be interesting.

Agreed. I remember back in the 939 days the Opteron 180's and 185's were absolute beasts. I just wonder why these have been released so quietly. Normally Fudzilla and the Inquirer would be all over something like this and there would be threads all over the various message boards. The only threads I can find about AM2 Barcelonas however are speculation threads from last year.
