At least I think it's called post. Sorry I'm kind of a noob. I left my computer on and unfortunately it's been running hot. I came back to it and the screen was frozen. Moving the mouse didn't make the screen pointer budge. Total freeze. So I restarted the computer...the fans started up, the cd-roms all blinked but I would hear an immediate deeeee deeeee dee dee. Like 4 beeps. 2 long 2 short. The screen would show nothing. I don't know if it's just because the computer is still hot or I fried one of the components.

Well I did a little research and found out that 1 long beep and 2 short beeps means there is a problem with the video card. I think. Unfortunately I don't have a backup video card to test so I'm not sure what I can do other than buy a really cheap vid card and test it out.

Try taking the video card out and then re-seat it. I have seen that before but there is a chance it may have burned. |

Borrow one. Make sure your PSU is up for the job. +12v rails need to have enough amps. |

Do you have onboard video by any chance? Like sarcastic said, you'll want to at least try to reseat your video card. I'd also flush all the electricity out of your board. Just unplug the computer from the wall and hit the power button on the PC a couple of times. Usually your fans and lights pop on for a sec and then run out of electricity and go back off. Now plug the machine back into the wall and try to start it up.

No RAM will give you a series of long beeps. |

Thank you so much guys for all your help. The simplest suggestion worked. I unplugged my computer and took out the video card. I noticed it seemed to be unseated a little bit. This gave me hope that just reseating it would work and it did!
