SupCom?  I went from single, to dual to a quad.  Q6600 ran it the best, but I would suggest upping the FSB from 266 to 333.

If money isn't in the equation; QX9770.

If it is, 6600, 6700, 9300 are the next best thing.

Another vote for quad, it gets utilized with this game.

My E8400 runs it fine but quad would give you a definate boost. IMO Q6600 is the best bang for your buck right now.

Is that supposed to be on Fire?!

Agreed I run that game on the Rig In My Sig, and the thing just flies @ 1680x1050 w/dual screens enabled.
Max details.

Saw a good increase in performance from a dual core setup.

Dual monitors are very nice on that game, unless you run it on a big plasma or LCD...then you can utilize the mini-map...only it's not so mini anymore.

quad core all the way, at least a q6600. i dont personally like oc, too complicated on a ga-p35-ds3l. if u want to oc, get a nvidia mobo, its so much simpler.

Umm you must be retarded, oc'ing on the ds3l is quite simple. Hmm you seem to be pretty inconsistent with your knowledge, in another post you were talking about how a e8400 would bottleneck. interesting....

Then you need a quad core. If you do overclock, e8400 can give acceptable performance on higher unit counts.

quads definetly give higher performance on SCFA than duals, the games just build that way, there a topic too that shows results comparing quads and duals

Supreme Commander is one of only a handful of games that's already quad optimized.

Think about the performance difference between single core and duals as games became dual optimized, and the performance between quad and dual in this case makes sense. Eventually, it'll reflect performance of all games.

With the CoreMaximizer patch any quad core scores 10k (the maximum AFAIK) points (CPU/SIM) in SC/SCFA built in performance test.

I'm not really sure how much a 3GHz dual core gets but a 3.7GHz E6750 scores ~8600 in a friends build.
