does anyone knows if it's possible to install new 2x 1GB DDR2-667 or DDR2-800 on a Asus P5GDC motherboard maybe with the latest BIOS update?
I remember new dimms are double sided and use 128Mb chips.
The information on Asus site is that it only support single side dimms that use 64Mb chips which are extremelly rare and probably too expensive.
Thanks for your feedback and help in advance.

No way to know, maybe buy the cheapest dimm you can get and try.
Edit: just read that you had a 915p based, i had a 915g based MSI board and just bought any ddr2 ram and popped it in, worked like a charm. This was double-sided ddr2-800 btw

Thanks. I have temporarly a Kingston ValueRam Dual channel kit DDR2-667 2GB double sided to test it.
Besides the CPU (Pentium 530 3.0GHz, 1MB L2 cache), i have only 1 GB CL2 Patriot DDR400 memory which is becoming too short for actual programs (and i keep my system clean and stable, do regular maintenance to the drives, etc).
But i still don't feel the need to buy a entire new system (cpu, mobo, ram). I hope i memory upgrade to 2GB could extend my system life another 6 months at least.
I have 2 Raptors 74GB mirrored, which gives the system an extra boost in performance in termos of memory swapping and file load.
It's really a shame an Asus motherboard with LGA775 and DDR2 can't support any C2D, not even the ones with FSB800... it's the last time i buy a PC with some "future upgrade now" features... it's not worth the extra money.
