My question is a relatively simple one regarding Dual Channel configuration. I have a 1GB Kingston DDR2 module, 667Mhz. If I install another one of this will it run in DC or do I have to throw it away and buy a 2GB kit (2x1GB).

Also, I do light gaming (new titles) on XP and use Vista32 for documents and web surfing. Do I need more than 2GB of RAM?

Intel E6300 1.8
Intel DG965RY
Nvidia Geforce 7900GS (OC 600MHz)

Your mobo has two memory slots, correct? If so you don't have to worry about the 'correct' slot. Just pop it in and your ready to go. You might want to set your memory divider in the bios to 1:1

Two gigs are ample, i game on vista with that much

1G in the other slot in the same bank will work, usually slot 3. You should try to get the same stick that you are using now if that is possible. If not get one with the same speed and timings. 2GB should be fine for XP and Vista for normal tasks. If you are going to play memory intensive games or deal with other memory intensive tasks you may want more.

XP32 and Vista32 can only see ~3G anyway, depending on how much video RAM you have.

RAM is pretty cheap, so it really depends on how much cash you have.

He has 4 slots. 1:1 is overrated IMO, but then so is the additional bandwidth going from 533 to 667. Really he should run the RAM at 1:1 and the FSB at 333. that would give a nice little boost to 2.33G.

OP, if you OC be sure that you research it first and watch your temps with Real Temp.

No my mobo has 4 memory slots. However I know how to install memory in DC. Just wanted to know if they would work in DC if i dont have a memory 'kit'. Thanks anyway.
